My series of embroidered photographs developed from the integration of two very different practices: the energetic manipulation of the camera in my jerky iPhone photography, and the calm, repetitive movement of the needle in my hand-stitching. The photographs are created in an instant, the intentional camera movement splintering sunlight into shards of colour; while the embroidery develops over hours of stitching, each stitch amplifying those striatum a of colour to extend, suspend, expand that captured moment.
